A Turkish socialite celebrating her bachelorette party
with seven friends has died in a fatal plane crash.
Mina Basaran, 28, from Turkey, is believed to have been
aboard the private flight after throwing a bachelorette party in Dubai.
The flight that was bound for Instanbul in Turkey began
to fail after the plane's engine caught fire and crashed into the mountains of
Iran.
All 11 on board died, according to Red Crescent, an Iran
news agency.
Eight aboard the flight were passengers and three were
crew members.
The country's Civil Aviation Organization spokesman, Reza
Jafarizadeh, said the private jet crashed near Shahr-e Kord city, some 230
miles south of the capital Tehran.
Local villagers who reached the crash site in the Zagros
Mountains reportedly found only badly burned bodies and no survivors.
The plane was identified as a Bombardier CL604, tail
number TC-TRB by Turkey's Dogan News Agency.
On Thursday she posted a photograph on Instagram showing
her standing on the tarmac in front of the plane wearing a jacket that says
'#bettertogether Mrs Bride'.
In another picture, she holds heart-shaped balloons
inside the plane.
Her wedding was set for next month.
The plane was traced to a company called Basaran Holding,
for which Mina worked, according to Turkey’s Transport Ministry.
Mina had just celebrated her bachelorette party in Dubai
and was aboard a private flight home with friends when it suddenly crashed
Huseyin Basaran, Mina's father, is the chairman of the
company.
Huseyin is a former deputy chairman of Trabzonspor
football club and owns businesses that span yachts to energy, according to
Reuters.
He also runs a series of luxury apartment blocks in
Istanbul named 'Mina Towers' after his daughter.
Mina was a part of the company's board of managers and
was in line to run the business that included real estate.
On Saturday she posted an image smiling surrounded by her
seven friends in pink robes - Mina in white - at a resort in Dubai.
'#minasbachelorette #bettertogether' she captioned the
image.
The last videos posted to her account showed her and
friends enjoying a concert by pop star Rita Ora at a popular Dubai nightclub.
There was no further activity on her account after that.
Iranian emergency management officials described all the
passengers as being young women, according to IRNA.
The semi-official Fars news agency reported that the
plane took off from Sharjah in the United Arab Emirates and was heading to
Turkey's Istanbul.
The reports did not elaborate.
Villagers near the crash say they saw flames coming from
the plane's engine before the crash, according to a report by Iran's state-run
judiciary news agency Mizan.
The aircraft was a Canadian-made Bombardier, according to
the Iranian news agency Tasnim.
'The plane is on fire. After the pilot asked to lower
altitude, it disappeared from the radar,' Tasnim quoted an ICAO official as
saying.
'The wreck of the jet and the bodies are found. They will
be carried down from the mountain when sun comes up. My condolences to those
who lost their loved ones,' the head of humanitarian organization Turkish Red
Crescent Kerem Kinik, said on Twitter.
